NOTHING BUT THE TEETH

Loving and caring for your teeth

10 ways you wreck your teeth Part 1

Doctors advice that you brush your teeth twice a day, you always make sure you do that so you are covered right? WRONG!

There are little exercises and chores we ask our teeth to do everyday that cause damage to them. These are damages that brushing twice a day won’t fix.

Using hard-bristled toothbrush: Some people think using hard- bristle toothbrushes take out dirt and germs better. They           actually don’t. Instead, they damage the gums, root surface and protective tooth enamel. Go for the medium-soft bristled                     toothbrush. They are far kinder.

Using your teeth as a bottle owner: Ever tried this? It is time to stop. It might look like a really cool thing to do but all it             does is wear away your teeth causing damages.

Chewing Ice: Ice cubes are sugar free so they should be safe right? They are actually not. It can chip or crack your tooth as well        as irritate soft tissues inside a tooth.

Brushing your teeth immediately after eating: When you do this, the acid in your mouth will be brushed into your teeth          causing erosion and loss of tooth enamel. You should wait for 30-40 minutes to allow saliva reduce the pH level in the mouth            caused by food.

Brushing after breakfast: It is best you brush your teeth as you wake up, that way you brush away bacteria that has formed          in your mouth overnight. Still want to brush after breakfast? You can rinse with a fluoride mouthwash.
